Year 8 is the second year of the Key Stage 3 curriculum and where students really start to feel the transition into secondary school mathematics. It's the perfect time for additional support from a tutor before serious public examinations start in Year 9.

The broad areas of study in Year 8 Maths remain the same as in Year 7 - Number, Algebra, Geometry, for example. At school there is revision, reinforcement and extension of these topics. The HowCloud classes will focus on the trickier bits of the syllabus in each of these areas.

HowCloud's Year 8 maths classes adapt to the indiviual student. If they need more support with the basics we cover them to build up confidence. For top students we push ahead into more advanced topics to get a head start.

Who can benefit from Year 8 tutoring?

Any student who is currently in Year 8 at secondary schools in the UK. Year 8 is a great time to solidify basic understanding for those struggling or push further ahead into advanced topics for those at the top of their maths class.

Tutoring with real teachers outside of school used to be a product which was out of reach of most students. HowCloud is changing that - our teachers are available to you for a fraction of the price of traditional private tutors. We want everyone to get the advantage of a private maths tutor.

What will be covered during Year 8 maths classes?

We focus on the topics you will encounter in the Year 8 maths classroom at school and in line with the National Curriculum.

Year 8 classes start on 1 November 2015

Frequently Asked Questions

How does subscribing to HowCloud work?

HowCloud gives you ongoing access to a great teacher to study with. Choose the number of hours per week that you would like to access a teacher for and subscribe by paying for 1 month (4 weeks) of tutoring. If you find that you need more (or less) hours per week with our teachers then you can always change or cancel your subscription package at any time without penalty.

How does the 14 day money back guarantee work?

If at any time during your first 14 days using HowCloud you realise it's not for you then you can cancel your subscription and get every penny back - no questions asked (although we do really appreciate your feedback)! Just contact our team via your account and we'll process a refund for you on the spot. Remember that even if you go beyond your first 14 days you can cancel your subscription at any time - we don't tie you up to any long term contracts.

Are classes recorded so I can watch them later?

Yes all classes are recorded and available for you to watch within 24 hours. The real value is in coming to the live classes but the recordings are always available for you to replay.

How many students attend each class?

The maximum number of students in a class is 20. The small groups and relaxed setting means everyone gets the attention they need to succeed.

Is there homework?

HowCloud teachers don't set homework exercises for students right now but they'll always recommend enrichment activities to help reinforce what has been learned during the class.
